Continuity Task 1 Evaluation

1. Explain the story of your video.
Our video entails of a man running (Makori) while doing jumps over various objects, then after jumping over the last object he falls flat on his face. The first shot is an extreme close shot of his face while he prepares to run. The second shot is a mid shot from behind him, at the end of the shot he runs away from the camera. The next shot is a close shot of him jumping over a light. The shot after that is a mid shot of him land after the jump and running towards the camera. Then there is a master shot of him falling over the last light. The last shot is a high shot of him on the floor, in pain.

2. How did you attempt to create narrative flow.
We used quick cuts to create a sort of dramatic effect in order to create narrative flow. We used low camera angles through out the video in order to create dramatic effect and throw the viewer into the action. We aimed to achieve continuity by finding various matches on action.

3. Did you achieve continuity? If not, why?
We did not achieve continuity, this was mainly because we failed to get a match on action between all the different shots. He jumps over the first light twice has shot 4 and 5 overlap. Also, there is a gap between the last two shots.

4. In hindsight, what would you do differently?
I would have finished shot 4 earlier and started shot 5 slightly later to get rid of the delay. Also, I would have ended the penultimate shot later so there would have been a match of action on the last to shots.
